The Teach English in Mexico Program Agreement
I, _____________________________ agree to the following terms and conditions of my participation in the Teach English in Mexico Guaranteed Placement Program. I understand that failure to comply with this agreement will result in cancellation of my residence and work authorizations abroad, as well as my affiliation with the program.
A. Prior to my departure, I agree that:
1) I will read all written materials sent to me.
2) I will be responsible for all costs related to international travel and any
fees associated with visas and/or additional insurance.
3) If I cancel participation in the program less than sixty (60) days prior to
departure, I will not receive a refund, per the Terms Policy.
B. During my stay abroad, I understand that:
1) I will be placed with a rep as a program participant. In the event of
problems, I agree to communicate with my Program Representative and the
Program Director immediately.
2) I will be responsible for working in accordance with the arrangements agreed
upon with the Teach English in Mexico Program.
3) I agree not to incur any debts, telephone bills, etc. that I cannot pay
for.
4) If I live with a host family, I will abide by the house rules. This includes
informing the host family of my whereabouts when away for more than 12 hours or
when returning to the house later than the mutually agreed upon curfew. When
traveling outside of the metropolitan area I agree to also inform the local
representative in order for him/her to know my whereabouts. I will also notify
my representative upon my return from a trip.
5) Holidays must be planned in advance in agreement with the local
representative and the workplace.
6) The following will not be accepted behavior and will lead to immediate expulsion
from
the program:
a) Abuse of alcohol or use of illegal substances.
b) Violating the laws of the country.
c) Personal misconduct or inappropriate behavior of a serious nature.
7) In the event that I choose not to remain with the host family, apartment,
house, and/or job
placement, I agree to give the host family, landlord, roommate, project supervisor, school director,
and/or program
representative at least three (3) weeks notice of my departure. If the rent is
month to month, I agree to give a month's notice or compensate the landlord
accordingly.
8) I agree to take with me abroad, emergency funds of at least $600 USD (unless
otherwise advised). I
understand that I may need to show proof of these funds before departure. These
funds may be used as start-up costs until receiving first payment from employer
- may be used for housing deposit, rent, food, etc.
9) I agree to live within my budget and to take full responsibility if I exceed
my local expenses, thus making it impossible to remain in the program and
subsequently causing my early departure from Mexico.
10) I understand that I have access to a local rep for up to one year.
11) I agree that I will NOT use the information and/or contacts the InternetWorks representative
in Mexico provides me with to assist others in obtaining employment while I am on the
program or after departure from the program. Doing so will lead to
immediate expulsion from the program and job references will not be provided.
InternetWorks declines any legal responsibility for:
1) Incurred health problems or any personal misconduct or inappropriate
behavior by the participant.
2) Participants expelled from the program.
3) Any force majeure (earthquake, floods, strikes, etc.).
I have read this agreement and by signing agree to all of the terms and
conditions of participation. Furthermore, I certify that all the statements I
have made as part of my application are true. I know of no reasons why I may be
refused entry into Mexico.
